The 5th-10th October is #LibrariesWeek. We are celebrating by offering a limited number of FREE books to staff, patients and their families and carers. These were donated to us as part of the Reading Agency’s annual World Book Night celebrations which were due to take place on 23rd April. This year due to lockdown we are instead distributing them during Libraries Week.
Reading for pleasure is a globally recognised indicator in a huge range of social issues from poverty to mental health, yet in England alone, 36% of people don’t regularly read (DCMS, 2015). The Health Libraries at UHNM recognise the importance of The Reading Agency and its work to inspire people to share reading and celebrate the difference it makes to our lives.
Call in to the library to collect your free copy whilst stocks last. (Why not take a look around and join the library whilst you are there?) The book is yours to read, keep or pass on and share. We hope you enjoy it.
We also aim to hand out copies in the hospital during the week (gloved and masked of course!!).
