Focus on Mental and Physical Healthcare (MaP Game)

The library has added to its collection of educational games by purchasing a copy of Focus Games Mental Health and Physical Health (MaP) at work game. This can be loaned by individuals to use in their workplace with their teams to support well-being. It can be played by clinical or non-clinical staff and library staff would be happy to act as facilitators if required.  You can set aside as much or as little time as you can spare - you don't have to work through to the end of the game, just raising awareness and starting the discussion in your team may be enough. It also comes with an additional set of instructions on how to play in a Covid safe way.

This is what the publishers have to say about the game:

Many employees feel uncomfortable discussing mental health with colleagues and line managers - The MaP Game: Workplace Edition provides a pressure free, informal opportunity to discuss mental health at work. It helps break the silence around mental health, allowing employees and managers to discuss how the organisation can effectively promote general wellbeing, and support any employees who have mental health conditions.

It is designed to help create an open culture where managers and employees at all levels feel comfortable discussing mental health, valuing it with the same importance as physical health. It aims to promote

  • Links between mental and physical health
  • Breaking the silence around discussing mental health
  • How to create an open culture
  • Supporting employees/colleagues who have health conditions
  • Promoting health and wellbeing at work
  • Work-life balance

Audience

Suitable for all staff at any level in any organisation but will be particularly useful where the group includes line managers who can initiate change and improve support available.
